THE GOLD MANIPULATORS NOT ONLY WILL BE PUNISHED, THEY HAVE BEEN PUNISHED

By: Gary Tanashian

I have not gone off the deep end and joined the “community” of boosters, promoters, pompom waving cheering squads and general cult figures who you can just tell not only want you to adore gold, but in some cases need you to act on your adoration and buy gold or gold stocks.  Read into that what you will, but the history of investors burned by the pitch, which tugs at peoples’ morals, sense of right and wrong and plain old common sense, is a long and storied one.

As in any market, you are the mark, the target, the food… unless you do the educational work to the degree required in order to have your own – not some expert’s – view on things.  That includes we would-be geniuses who think we can write for you and provide worthwhile information along the way in your decision making process.  The day I stop learning and working to be better is the day I stop doing this, and that’ll be the day they fit me for a pine box.

By educational work, I don’t mean understanding the difference between a Fibonnaci retrace percentage and a time cycle.  I don’t mean understanding the difference between a bottoming pattern and a consolidation pattern, an open pit mine and an underground mine or any other of the very real things that an investor or trader considers.  I mean you have to do work on yourself because no one has got definitive answers and you should not be seeking those… from anybody!

The reason I am being so presumptuous as to assume there are people who fall victim to the pitches and the plays on peoples’ greed, fear and naivete is because I know you are out there.  I know because this gentleman is presumably writing to an audience…

Gold Manipulators Will Be Punished

I agree with him, gold manipulators not only will be punished, they were punished in unrelenting fashion for four long years.  When the HUI Gold Bugs index lost key support (as we noted in real time about the 460 area) in 2012, still they cheered and poked monetary authorities in the eye with dogma and belligerence about the coming of QE3.  This kept the gold bug faithful in the game.   After we noted distinct signs of economic firming in early 2013 and gold proceeded to crash major support in the 1500’s, still they pumped.  The PTB, the PPT and the unholy Goldman/JPM/Fed trinity were putting the poor gold bug army to the test.  ‘Stand up to it boys, I’m right here with you!’ cried the generals from well behind the front lines, ‘it’s just paper gold manipulation!’

You only need the first paragraph to know where the above-linked article, published today, is going.

The selling of gold we saw last week was another desperate attack by the BIS and some central banks, together with the bullion banks, to manipulate the gold market lower. We saw over 40% of annual production of gold being sold last week which is 1,000 tons. The physical market continues to be strong which I will discuss further on.”

Actually, the first sentence is all that is needed.  We heard that physical demand, China demand, Russia demand crap all through the bear market. It did not matter then and it does not matter now.

The Demise of the EU

Full Article:  The Demise of the EU

By: Jeff Thomas –

Back in the 90’s, when the EU had ceased to be a mere trade agreement and had become a full-blown oligarchy that would eventually gobble up most of western and eastern Europe, my belief was that it had not only been a doomed concept, it had additionally been rushed into being far too quickly. Although, at that time, the governments of Europe were gleefully joining up, I said, “I give it twenty years, tops.”

It was an offhanded remark and, in truth, I was throwing a dart at a board regarding the time period, but twenty years did seem about right to me. And this shouldn’t have been a difficult prophecy. There were three major reasons for its validity.

The Next Recession Looms Large

Full Article: The Next Recession Looms Large

By: Peter Schiff

Currently economists and market watchers roughly fall into two camps: Those who believe that the Federal Reserve must begin raising interest rates now so that it will have enough rate cutting firepower to fight the next recession, and those who believe that raising rates now will simply precipitate an immediate recession and force the Fed into battle without the tools it has traditionally used to stimulate growth. Both camps are delusional, but for different reasons.

Most mainstream analysts believe that the current economy can survive with more normalized rates and that the Fed’s timidity is unwarranted. These people just haven’t been paying attention. The “recovery” of the past eight years hasn’t been just “helped along” by deeply negative real interest rates, it is a singular creation of those policies. Since June 2009, when the current recovery began, traditional economic metrics, such as GDP growth, productivity, business investment, labor force participation, and wage growth, have all been significantly below trend. The only strong positives have been gains in the stock, bond and real estate markets. We have had an “asset price” recovery rather than a bona fide economic recovery. This presents unique risks.

They’re making a big mistake on climate policy

Full Article:  They’re making a big mistake on climate policy

By: Michael Campbell

Anytime I think about even mentioning anything to do with climate change I start rolling my own eyes. A rational discussion left the barn years ago and free speech wasn’t far behind. But be that as it may, I’m still hearing a lot of talk about Alberta’s carbon tax and the push for one imposed by the federal government. A couple things to be clear on. The biggest problem with Canada’s climate change policies that gets to the heart of why effective international active action is so difficult, is that the cost of climate change policies are born locally but the benefits are dispersed globally.

Politicians must acknowledge that fact in order to get support for climate related policies. Their policies should reflect that. Policies to combat climate change are very different from so many other environmental actions. For example if a community decided to put a new tax in to raise money to clean up its water supply, unlike climate change that cost would be local but the benefits would also be local. With climate change the costs will still be born locally but as the benefits are global, policymakers should go to great lengths to mitigate the costs while pursuing effective action

What we look for when picking superior gold stocks

By: Frank Holmes

The ability to filter through hundreds of gold stocks, choosing those with the best relative value, among other things, is a skill that our portfolio management team at U.S. Global Investors has over 30 years of experience in. Our primary fiduciary responsibility as active managers is to sift, sort and prioritize these names in order to pinpoint the ones we believe can provide the best opportunities for our funds and to our shareholders.

Although we use several technical strategies to accomplish this, I have outlined some of the most important factors we focus on when classifying the best of the best gold stocks.

This is how a Donald Trump presidency would affect the dollar, gold and China

Full Article: This is how a Donald Trump presidency would affect the dollar, gold and China

By: Matthew Lynn

A narrowing of the polls. An elderly and tarnished opponent. A resilient populist, who, despite every known law of political campaigning, manages to stay in contention. The world outside the United States is about to start getting its head around the fact that it is not impossible that Donald Trump could actually be elected president.

If you thought Brexit was scary for financial markets, wait for the reaction to a possible Trump victory. There would be panic, and a rapid repricing of assets across the world. Expect the dollar’s bull run to end, and the euro to stage a rally; expect a plunge in China, rippling out to the rest of the emerging markets; and expect the price of gold and every other kind of safe haven to soar. It would certainly be dramatic, and possibly ugly as well.
