FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                                              December 07, 2016
MX Gold Corp. provides update on Magistral Joint Venture
Vancouver, B.C. – MX Gold Corp. (TSX-V: MXL) (FSE: ODV) (OTCQX: MXLGF) (the “Company” or “MX Gold”) announces that, further to its news release dated October 25, 2016 regarding the entry into a binding agreement (the “Agreement”) to acquire a 50% interest in the Magistral, Del Oro tailings project (the “Project”), the Company paid the second installment of US$750,000 to the owner of the Project as required by the Agreement.  Pursuant to an amendment agreement dated November 22, 2016, the parties have also expressed their intention to negotiate in good faith and enter into a definitive agreement in the near future.
The Company’s remaining payments consist of a US$750,000 payment on or prior to December 20, 2016 and a final payment of US$750,000 on or prior to January 19, 2017, following which the Company will earn a 50% participating ownership interest and 45% net profit participating interest in the Project.
The project includes a fully permitted, 500 tonne-per-day dynamic cyanide countercurrent system plant constructed in 2013 at a cost of approximately $4.5 million, which appears to be in excellent condition. The plant is unencumbered and it is estimated that the plant can be fully operational within four to six months. Additionally, the Magistral project includes the exclusive rights to process the mineralized mill tailings.
About the Magistral project mineralized tailings project
A historical estimate was completed by Corporation Ambiental de Mexico SA de CV on Jan. 20, 2012, titled “Perforacion y Muestreo en Presa de Jaleas Estimation Volumetrica, Tonelaje y Ley Promedio.” The CM report estimated a probable reserve of 1.25 million tonnes averaging 2.06 grams per tonne gold. The assumptions for this estimate were based on 58 auger samples, 2.45 metres to three metres in length from 24 drill holes. There has been no additional work on the tailings project since Jan. 20, 2012, to upgrade or verify the historical estimate.
The CM report does not comply with National Instrument 43-101 and MX Gold believes that a qualified person has not done sufficient work to classify the historical estimate as a current mineral resource or reserve and is not treating the historical estimate as a current mineral resource or reserve. The company has initiated a data verification program with additional geochemical studies by trenching of the tailings project. Initial results appear to be confirming historical grade estimates.
The technical information in this news release has been reviewed and approved by Lorne Warner, P.Geo, and a qualified person as defined by National Instrument 43-101.

NEWS RELEASE

NEXUS GOLD SIGNS DEFINITIVE AGREEMENT TO ACQUIRE NIANGOUELA GOLD CONCESSION, BURKINA FASO, WEST AFRICA

Vancouver, Canada – December 6, 2016 – Nexus Gold Corp. (“Nexus” or the “Company”) (TSX-V: NXS, OTC: NXXGF, FSE: N6E) is pleased to announce it has entered into a definitive agreement with Precision Resources SARL (the “Optionor”), pursuant to which Nexus will acquire the right to earn up to a 100% interest in the Niangouela gold concession located in Burkina Faso, West Africa.

Nexus will have an option to acquire up to a 90% interest in the Niangouela concession, in consideration for cash payments totalling US$370,000 and the issuance of 600,000 common shares, over a period of three years.  Following acquisition of a 90% percent interest in the concession, Nexus will have a further option to acquire the remaining interest through a cash payment of US$1,000,000, subject to a 1.0% net smelter returns royalty to remain with the Optionor.

The 178 square kilometre concession is located on the Boromo Greenstone Belt, same as the Company’s Bouboulou Gold Concession and is proximal to the Kalsaka deposit.  The property is road accessible and has one major orpaillage (artisanal workings).

“We are very pleased to add the Niangouela gold concession to our growing portfolio,” said President and CEO, Peter Berdusco.  “It’s location is close to our Bouboulou project, so dedicating resources makes good logistical and fiscal sense. We look forward to beginning our exploration work there as historical data shows excellent potential.”

To date 556 pits and 11 trenches have been excavated, and rock and soil samples have been taken.  A total of 1137 samples have been collected.  Previous programs have identified a zone which runs ENE and WSW occurring in the south central part of the concession.  This zone has returned gold in soil samples up to 34 g/t Au, rock samples have returned values up to 18 g/t Au, and trenching has returned values of 4.85 g/t Au over 10 meters.  Recent rock samples taken by Nexus returned values from 1.12 g/t Au to 2.49 g/t Au.

Completion of the transaction remains subject to the approval of the TSX Venture Exchange.  All securities issued in connection with the transaction will be subject to a four-month-and-one-day statutory hold period.

About Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso is a landlocked nation, located in West Africa. It covers an area of roughly 274,000 square kilometres and has an estimated population of more than 16 million people. The country has a stable political setting with a pro-mining and foreign investment stance. Burkina Faso is the fastest growing gold producer in Africa, and was the 4th largest gold producer in Africa in 2012. Eight new mines have been commissioned there over the past six years. The country has excellent geological potential. The Greenstone Belts that host all of the major deposits in Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire continue northward into Burkina Faso. Burkina Faso has undergone less than 15 years of modern mineral exploration, remaining under explored in comparison to neighbouring Ghana and Mali; both of which host world class gold mines in the same belts of Birimian rocks.

Strengths

    • The best performing precious metal for the week was platinum, up 2.34 percent, followed by palladium with nearly flat returns.  Platinum group metals have lifted somewhat with the anticipation of stronger industrial growth.

    • Even though investors can’t seem to unload gold fast enough, coin collectors are benefitting, reports Bloomberg.  U.S. Mint gold-coin sales jumped for a fourth straight month, the longest streak since 2003. And in India, despite the fall in sales of jewelry due to demonetization, gold imports remained stable at around 100 tonnes in November (from 97 tonnes in October).

  • According to Bloomberg Intelligence, the five-year average gold premium is typically around $5.50 an ounce in China, but has soared to almost $40 an ounce, as falling prices invite “bargain buying” among the Chinese. As the Financial Times reports, China has curbed gold imports as the government tries to clamp down on capital leaving the country, along with the yuan falling to its lowest against the U.S. dollar in eight years
